Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

What is BHRT?

The term "bioidentical" means the hormones in the product are chemically identical to those your body produces.  They are manmade hormones derived from plants that are chemically identical to those the human body produces, and are made to mimic our own hormones.

Estrogen, progesterone and testosterone are among those most commonly replicated and used in treatment.

The goal of BHRT is to optimize hormone levels and treat the underlying cause of symptoms of hormone deficiency.   BHRT can be used to treat men and women when their hormone levels drop or become unbalanced.

BHRT may also be used to improve symptoms or to treat conditions such as:
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
  • Insulin resistance
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Adrenal fatigue
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fibromyalgia

Bioidentical hormones come in various forms, including:
  • Pellets that are inserted underneath the skin (typically lasting 3-4 months)
  • Pills
  • Sublinguals
  • Creams
  • Gels
  • Injections
